These terms apply when you use the Finer Builds website at finerbuilds.co.nz. They're written by Finer Builds Ltd, a Māori-owned family building company based in Te Awamutu, Waikato, and operated by Tanya, AJ and Paul Allison.
Accepting these terms
By using the website — browsing pages, reading guides, or sending an enquiry through a form — you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with any part of them, please don't use the site.
What you can use the site for
You're welcome to browse, read, share links to pages, and contact us about a project. The site is here for people considering a build, renovation, or commercial fit-out, and for anyone wanting to understand how we work.
Personal and non-commercial use is fine. If you'd like to reproduce something from the site for another purpose — a quote in an article, a screenshot for a case study, photos on social media — please ask first.
What you can't do
Please don't:
- Scrape the site at scale, or run automated tools that put meaningful load on it.
- Submit enquiry forms pretending to be someone else, or use the contact channels for spam, abuse, or unsolicited sales outreach.
- Attempt to break the site, get around security, or interfere with how it runs for other visitors.
- Copy, republish or resell our content, photos, or branding without written permission.
Intellectual property
All content on the site — words, photos, drawings, the Finer Builds name and logo, the look and feel of the pages — is owned by Finer Builds Ltd, or used with permission from the people who own it. Nothing on the site grants you any right to use that material outside of normal browsing.
Photos of completed projects are shared with the consent of the homeowners or clients involved. Please respect that and don't reuse them without checking with us first.
Accuracy of information on the site
We try to keep the site accurate and up to date, but the information on it is general in nature. Cost guides, timeframes, and "from" pricing are indicative only — every real project has its own scope, site conditions and specifications, and the real number comes from a proper consultation and written quote.
Nothing on this website is a binding quote, an offer to enter into a contract, or professional building, design or legal advice. If something on the site is load-bearing for a decision you're about to make, please call us and we'll talk it through properly.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Finer Builds Ltd isn't liable for any loss or damage that results from using — or being unable to use — this website, including reliance on information that turned out to be inaccurate or out of date.
Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986, where those Acts apply. We don't try to contract out of either.
Website terms vs build contract terms
These are website terms. They cover how you use finerbuilds.co.nz.
They are separate from the contract for an actual build. Every Finer Builds project runs under its own written building contract, scoped per job, aligned with NZS 3902 (the New Zealand Standard for residential building contracts) and the New Zealand Building Code. That contract — not this page — is what governs your project once you sign on.
Third-party links
The site may link out to other websites — suppliers, standards bodies, partner organisations. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for what they contain. If you follow an external link, their terms and privacy practices apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as the business or website changes. The current version always lives at this URL, with the updated date at the top.
Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any dispute about the website is to be resolved in the New Zealand courts.
