Finer Builds Ltd respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through finerbuilds.co.nz, why we collect it, who handles it, and the rights you have over your own information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
Finer Builds Ltd is a Māori-owned, family-run building company based in Te Awamutu, Waikato. The business is owned and operated by Tanya, AJ and Paul Allison. When this policy refers to "we", "us" or "Finer Builds", it means Finer Builds Ltd.

What information we collect
We collect two kinds of information through this website:
Information you give us
When you fill in a contact form or enquiry on the site, you share your name, email address, phone number, the type of project you're thinking about, and whatever details you write in the message field. You only give us this information if you choose to send a form.
Information collected automatically
We use Google Analytics 4 to count anonymous pageviews and understand which pages are useful. This includes things like which pages you visited, roughly which region of the country you visited from, the kind of device you used, and how you arrived at the site. It does not include your name, email or phone number, and we don't try to identify individuals from it.
Why we collect it
Enquiry form information is used to respond to your message, scope your project, and follow up about a quote or consultation. Analytics information is used to improve the website — figuring out which pages help people and which need work. We don't sell your information to anyone, and we don't use it for unrelated marketing.
Where your information goes
A small number of trusted services help us run the site:
- Resend — delivers enquiry emails from the website to our inbox. Resend is based in the United States and operates under privacy commitments treated as adequate under New Zealand law.
- Google Analytics 4 — collects the anonymous pageview data described above. Google processes this data in the United States and the European Union (Ireland), under commitments treated as adequate under New Zealand law.
We don't share your information with anyone else without your consent, unless we're legally required to.
How long we keep it
Enquiry information is kept for up to 24 months from when you first contact us, so we have a record of the conversation if your project picks up again. After that it's deleted. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we'll do that — see the next section.
Analytics data is kept for the period set by Google's standard retention policy (currently 14 months) and is anonymised throughout that time.
Your rights under the Privacy Act 2020
The New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 gives you two rights worth knowing about:
- Access (Principle 6) — you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and we'll send you a copy.
- Correction (Principle 7) — if any of it is wrong or out of date, you can ask us to correct it.
To use either right, email info@finerbuilds.co.nz. We'll respond within 20 working days, as the Act requires.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses a small number of cookies set by Google Analytics to count anonymous visits and tell repeat visits apart from new ones. We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.
If you'd rather not be counted, you can block cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The site will keep working normally if you do.
Security
We take reasonable steps to keep your information safe — the site runs over HTTPS, our email is hosted with a reputable provider, and access to enquiry data is limited to the people who need it. No online system is perfect, so if you'd rather phone us than fill in a form, that's always an option.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and bump the "last updated" date at the top. Substantive changes will be noted plainly at the top of the page.
