Our process
Three clear stages, from first measure to the keys
We treat a garage like a proper build, not a sideline. Three stages take you from the first site visit to a finished, matching building you'll actually use.
Stage 1
Getting to know you
We meet on site to check levels, access, and space, and talk through your design, roofing, and cladding options. Because it's a smaller build, we work the design out here so we can measure accurately and put together a quote. No cost, no obligation.
- An on-site check of levels, access, and space
- Advice on design, roofing, and cladding options
- An accurate measure-up and scope
- A quote to follow, with no obligation to proceed
Stage 2
Consent, if it's needed
Not every garage or shed needs a building consent. Under the Building Act's exemption rules, many detached garages and sheds up to 30m² (and carports up to around 40m²) can be built without one when the work is carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner, which we are, provided the boundary and site conditions are met. Anything larger, attached to the house, or close to a boundary usually needs a consent. If yours does, we offer a preliminary contract to liaise with council, lodge your application, and get it across the line, then do a final review of your fixed-price contract.
- We tell you upfront whether your build even needs a consent
- Many detached garages and sheds up to 30m² are exempt with an LBP
- A preliminary contract for us to handle council where it's needed
- A final review of your fixed-price contract, sent to you
Stage 3
Sign on and build
You accept your fixed quote and sign your build contract, which locks in your start date and a guaranteed completion date. Then we build, from slab and framing to cladding, roofing, and finishing.
- Accept your fixed quote and sign your build contractYou commit here
- Concrete slab, framing, cladding, and roofing
- Doors, power, insulation, and lining to your spec
- Finished on the agreed date, or $100 a day if we run late
- A final walk-through and a 10-year guarantee
Why choose us
What sets us apart
A garage is small enough that most builders treat it as a sideline. We treat it like a build.
Built to match your home
Cladding, roof pitch, and finishes that complement what's already there, not a generic kitset on the lawn.
Consent-smart, and LBP-exempt
As Licensed Building Practitioners, we can build many detached garages and sheds up to 30m² without a building consent. When one is needed, we file everything and deal with council.
Workshop-ready specs
Insulated, lined, with sectional doors and adequate power if you want a real workshop, not just car storage.
Local Waikato knowledge
Waikato soils, drainage, wind zones, we engineer the slab and structure to suit your site.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line, we love a curly one.
Not always. Under the Building Act's exemption rules, a detached single-storey garage or shed up to 30m² (and a carport up to around 40m²) can often be built without a building consent when the work is carried out or supervised by a Licensed Building Practitioner, which we are, and the boundary and site conditions are met. Anything larger, attached to the house, or too close to a boundary usually needs one, and we handle that application as part of the build. We'll tell you exactly what applies to your build.
