Our process
Three clear stages, from first measure to first weekend out there
We keep the whole job simple and predictable, so you always know what's next. Three stages take you from that first site visit to the weekend you finally get to enjoy it.
Stage 1
Getting to know you
We come out to your place and talk through how you want to use the space, including the design. Because it's a smaller job, we work the design out here so we can measure accurately and give you a fixed quote. No cost, no obligation.
- A site visit to talk through your ideas, layout, and design
- Honest advice on timber vs composite for your exposure and budget
- An accurate measure-up so the quote is right
- A fixed quote, with no obligation to proceed
Stage 2
Consent, if it's needed
A deck is only exempt from building consent if it sits no more than 1.5 metres above the ground at any point. If any part is higher than that, or it's roofed or attached to the house, it needs a consent. If yours does, we offer a preliminary contract to liaise with council, submit your application, and get the consent across the line so we can begin. Once it's granted, we do a final review of your fixed-price contract and send it to you.
- We tell you upfront whether your deck needs consent
- A preliminary contract for us to handle council and lodge your application
- We manage the process and get your consent across the line
- A final review of your fixed-price contract, sent to you
Stage 3
Sign on and build
You accept your fixed quote, either before or after consent depending on your job, and we give you a build contract that protects both of us. That locks in your start date and a guaranteed completion date. Then we build, and check in once you've had a weekend out there.
- Accept your fixed quote and sign your build contractYou commit here
- Your start date and guaranteed completion date confirmed
- Groundwork, framing, decking, steps, balustrades, and finishing
- Finished on the agreed date, or $100 a day if we run late
- A final check-in once you've had a weekend out there
What we offer
Outdoor work we do
Decks, pergolas, concrete pads, screens, we build the whole outdoor space, not just the deck itself.
Timber decking
Natural and warm, built from durable hardwoods or cost-effective treated pine to suit your style and budget.
Composite decking
Low-maintenance and long-lasting with no staining or warping, available in a range of colours and finishes.
Steps & balustrades
Safe, code-compliant access from house to garden, designed to match your deck and meet handrail regulations.
Concrete pads
Strong, low-maintenance base for outdoor living, hot tubs or future decking. These can be finished plain, polished or textured.
Covered areas
We can integrate pergolas or roof extensions that add shade and shelter while creating indoor-outdoor flow.
Pool & spa surrounds
Decking that wraps around a pool or spa, with the right materials and clearances to handle moisture and chemical exposure.
Why choose us
What sets us apart
Decks are the part of a build that gets used every weekend, in all weather. Worth getting right.
Built for Waikato weather
Sun-tracking design, drainage that drains, posts deep in concrete. The kind of details that mean your deck still looks new in five years.
Timber and composite expertise
We work both, and we'll talk you through which makes sense for your exposure, your maintenance appetite, and your budget.
Compliant pool surrounds
If your deck integrates with a pool or spa, we know the Fencing of Swimming Pools Act inside out. Built compliant from day one.
Local Waikato knowledge
Microclimates matter. We know what sun, wind, and rain patterns mean for your site, and we build accordingly.

FAQs
Your questions, answered
Quick answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, drop us a line, we love a curly one.
A deck is only exempt from building consent if it sits no more than 1.5 metres above the ground at any point. If any part is higher than that, or it's roofed or attached to a habitable building, it needs a consent. We handle that for you where it's needed.
